THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM COACH (#27)

DON MEYER: "In warfare, more planes are lost coming back after a successful mission then during the battle because they relax."

This is something I jotted down in one of Coach's first academies and it is something that I share with our team several times each year.

When you are dealing with young people, winning and success can sometimes be more difficult to manage than defeat and failure. You can take a loss and find a way to motivate your team and they will readily listen because they want to redirect their energies and the outcome. But sometimes, if you and your team are not careful, complacency can creep in with disastrous consequences.
