THE BEST WANT TO BE DRIVEN

At Texas A&M, we are blessed with some talented student-athletes -- especially in our freshman class.  We actually started two of those freshman this year playing against the 3rd most difficult schedule in the nation as noted by our RPI.

I love all of our freshmen though I'm sure at times I may not be their favorite person.  I have always believed in driving your most talented players.  And those players that truly want to be their best expect and desire to be driven.

One such player on our team is Courtney Walker.  Courtney just finished her freshman year where she led the team in minutes played.  She was named to the All-SEC Freshman team and was All-Tournament on our SEC Championship team.  Yesterday she received an invitation to tryout for one of the USA Basketball Select Teams this summer.  She is one of our players that spends a great deal of time in the gym.  She has great eye contact when coaches are talking to her.

To be the best you can be is a daily challenge...it is a process -- not a destination.  It's about having the right mindset.  That's why our staff was smiling this morning when she tweeted the following:

"Accomplishments shouldn't change
anything about you except you resume."

Good is the enemy of great and Courtney has this figured out.
